Hedge Fund

A portfolio of investments, primarily using leveraged derivative positions to aggressively pursue high returns over the short term, in which investors purchase units, allowing them to access more diversified investment holdings than would otherwise be available and access to managers who research markets and select individual holdings. Hedge funds may also lose substantially over the short term and should be utilized by sophisticated investors and/or comprise only a small portion of a portfolio.
