Locked-In Retirement Account (LIRA)

A form of registered account similar to a registered retirement savings account, used to hold funds which have been transferred from a pension plan and therefore are subject to pension legislation, particularly regarding withdrawals. LIRA fund must be transferred to either a life annuity, Life Income Fund (LIF) or Locked-In Retirement Income Fund (LRIF)
