Managed Expense Ratio (MER)

One of the less understood elements of Mutual Funds, the MER is the total expense fee applied to the performance of the funds, measured as a percentage of the invested assets. An MER of 2% for example, charged on a fund with a posted annual performance of 8%, would have in fact earned 10% and charged a fee of 20% of the growth.
