Mutual Fund

A portfolio of investments in which investors purchase units, allowing them to access more diversified investment holdings than would otherwise be available and access to managers who research markets and select individual holdings. There are numerous types of mutual funds and, at time of writing, over 17, 000 available funds in Canada.
